Hi there. I’m Ian.

I’m not your traditional author/illustrator (if you couldn’t already tell from the drawings…), but after reading endless children’s books to my daughter, it became evident that there were no real stories that were close to the reality of being a parent – especially the somewhat frustrating, often useless and regularly hilarious role that the dad plays. Thus, Smelly Daddy was born.

Smelly Daddy is a series of children’s books that aim to highlight the misadventures of the father, and how the rest of the family pick up the pieces after he generally makes a mess of things.

I relate to the character of Smelly Daddy in far too many ways for it to be a coincidence (at times the parallels are all too close…) and this anti-hero hopefully relates to other parents and children out there too – the mummies who deal with their very own smelly daddies on a regular basis, the children who have to listen to their terrible smelly daddy jokes, and the daddies who… well, have to be Smelly Daddy!

It’s my intention to bring a smile to not only your little one’s face, but also your own!

I’m very much at the beginning of the Smelly Daddy journey, with big plans on the horizon (if I can get around to doing them… during the course of writing the books there have been a million-and-one other jobs I should have been doing. I might just write a book about that…)
